This Veterans Day, urgent care centers should consider reaching out to the more than 21 million veterans across the country.
Shore Urgent Care centers in New Jersey is offering free health screenings to veterans at its three locations Tuesday through Thursday. No appointment is necessary.
The screenings will include cholesterol and blood glucose tests, blood pressure assessment, along with body mass index, height, and weight measurements. Those identified as having a high risk factor will be given recommendations for further care and their primary care physician will be notified.
Shore Urgent Care is using the event to highlight the center’s evening and weekend hours. The clinic is positioning itself as a treatment alternative for veterans faced with urgent but not-life-threatening illnesses or injuries, who cannot wait to be seen in a nearby Veterans Affairs clinic.
It’s important for urgent care centers to be good community partners and to educate residents about the health care options they offer.
