Before opening an urgent care in any market, it’s critical to research the demographics and healthcare competition of the area. It can be very difficult to succeed in a startup venture if your main urgent care competition is part of a larger chain of retail centers, and you can’t assume anything about the ownership of a nearby urgent care center based on the name of the facility. You must conduct due diligence. Having an understanding of the market and who you will be competing against will be key factors of what makes or breaks your urgent care center.
