In 2014, Ayers was recognized by the McGuireWoods law firm as one of the nation’s 15 Urgent Care Thought Leaders as well as by the Ambulatory M&A Advisor as one of Urgent Care’s Top 15 Influencers. He currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Urgent Care Association of America (UCAOA) and serves as the organization’s Practice Management Content Advisor. In this role, Ayers provides expertise and guidance on emerging issues, identifies market and regulatory trends, defines content and plans educational programs, and presents at industry events.
A prolific and award-winning writer, Ayers is also practice management editor for The Journal of Urgent Care Medicine (JUCM) and he contributes a monthly column to UCAOA’s Urgent Care Access newsletter. Ayers has authored over 200 articles and is frequently quoted in the business and mainstream media on current health care topics.

He has also served Chief Operating Officer of a hospital-affiliated urgent care network. Ayers graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of North Carolina, has an MBA from the University of Mississippi, and a Masters of Accounting from The Ohio State University where he graduated first in his class. Ayers recently served on the Board of Directors of the Texas/New Mexico affiliate of Volunteers of America, a 120-year old social services charity, and he is an FAA-licensed commercial pilot.
