Years of growth, planning, and renovating culminated in November for Practice Velocity, as the software company proudly opened the doors to its new corporate headquarters.

“Today is a ribbon cutting and open house to thank the state, the county, and the city for their tremendous involvement in allowing Practice Velocity to have this new building,” said David Stern, MD, CEO of Practice Velocity on Nov. 13, as local dignitaries, media, family, friends, clients and community guests visited the new headquarters. “We also want to thank our clients and our employees, who have contributed so much to the success of this company.”

When considering where to locate its new headquarters, Practice Velocity decided to remain in Machesney Park. Incentives presented by the Illinois Governor’s Office, including tax credits, workforce grants, and a loan for expansion encouraged Practice Velocity to stay in Illinois. Additionally, the Village of Machesney Park and Winnebago County provided incentives, loans, and grants to keep the technology company in the Northern Illinois region.

“What a journey we have had, beginning in the basement of an urgent care clinic and growing in to this beautiful new facility,” said Dr. Stern. “As the urgent care industry grows exponentially, so does our company. We will continue to contribute to the economic growth of this community.”

The company moved in to its new home after three years of planning and major renovations made to the former Kohl’s store at the Machesney Park Mall. With more than 200 employees, Practice Velocity had outgrown its previous Machesney Park space.

“Practice Velocity was built through many little ideas that came together,” Dr. Stern said at the open house. “We have a great company that is now a job-creating machine for the Rock Valley region.”

Also speaking at the open house were Jerry Bolin, Mayor, Machesney Park; Mike Nicholas, President, Rockford Area Economic Development Council; and Jeff Polsean, Region Manager, Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity for Illinois.

Visitors were provided tours of the facility, which features an open-floor work environment, eco-conscious lighting and bathrooms, skylights, vibrant colors, and numerous team work spaces.
