Warm summer days filled with family, friends, fun, food and fireworks might just be “what the doctor ordered” for many of us–but it should be accompanied by urgent care summer service.
This time of year also can bring various unforeseen accidents and illnesses. As Fourth of July is upon us, it’s a great time to maintain connection with the community. Consider positioning your urgent care center as the local resource not only for treatment, but also as an advocate of summer safety.
In order to best serve the community, they need a clear understanding of when they have access to your services. Make patients aware of your holiday operating hours by displaying adequate signage, updating your voice mail system, and posting hours to your website and social media outlets. If you operate multiple locations and are limiting hours, it is a good idea to cross-promote the location(s) that will be open and have calls forwarded there.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CSPC), daily averages of 240 people seek out treatment through July for fireworks-related injuries. The majority of these injuries are to hands, fingers, heads, faces, and ears, which can likely be treated at your center.
Unfortunately, firework injuries are not the only incidents that can interfere with summer fun. Sunburn, dehydration, athletic injuries, bug bites, consumption of undercooked meat at social gatherings, as well as food and environmental allergies are also common and can put a damper on festivities.
Through your web presence, raise awareness of summer safety by providing preventative tips for some of these issues. Clarify which summer-related injuries your clinic is equipped to treat. You may also consider offering suggestions on how patients can pre-treat some of these incidents at home before heading in to your facility.
With the promotion of summer safety and serving patients on the holiday, your urgent care center can help to ensure a Happy Independence Day.
