Machesney Park, IL. (September 15, 2015) – Practice Velocity®, LLC, an urgent care software and services company, is pleased to announce the hiring of Alan Ayers—a leading expert in the urgent care industry.
In 2014, Ayers was recognized by the McGuireWoods law firm as one of the nation’s 15 Urgent Care Thought Leaders as well as by the Ambulatory M&A Advisor as one of Urgent Care’s Top 15 Influencers. He currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Urgent Care Association of America (UCAOA) and serves as the organization’s Practice Management Content Advisor. In this role, Ayers provides expertise and guidance on emerging issues, identifies market and regulatory trends, defines content and plans educational programs, and presents at industry events.
A prolific and award-winning writer, Ayers is also practice management editor for The Journal of Urgent Care Medicine (JUCM) and he contributes a monthly column to UCAOA’s Urgent Care Access newsletter. Ayers has authored over 200 articles and is frequently quoted in the business and mainstream media on current health care topics.
“Alan brings to Practice Velocity tremendous expertise in strategic planning, business development, clinic operations, sales, marketing, and customer service for urgent care,” said David Stern, MD, CEO of Practice Velocity. “His leadership will accelerate the impact and development of our cutting-edge software and services for urgent care clients.”
Prior to joining Practice Velocity, Ayers was a Vice President with Concentra, an industry leader in urgent care, occupational medicine, physical therapy, primary care, and wellness. He has also served Chief Operating Officer of a hospital-affiliated urgent care network. Ayers graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of North Carolina, has an MBA from the University of Mississippi, and a Masters of Accounting from The Ohio State University where he graduated first in his class. Ayers recently served on the Board of Directors of the Texas/New Mexico affiliate of Volunteers of America, a 120-year old social services charity, and he is an FAA-licensed commercial pilot.
“Practice Velocity has an innovative and entrepreneurial culture that has long supported the urgent care industry,” said Ayers. “I’m excited for the opportunity to join this visionary leadership team in defining the strategic course and positioning the company for future growth and success.”
